On Saturday, October 6th, Aaron Galleries hosted a photography exhibit highlighting the work of four Marie Murphy students.  Angela Lee, Lauren Pingad, Carissa Yang, and Chelsea Ye exceeded the expectations of Creative Technology teacher Dave Hoffheimer, when he assigned his class the task of photographing subjects reflected on separate surfaces.

Mr. Hoffheimer said, “These girls truly present themselves as artists, and their work is exceptional. Creative Technology is a digital art class that encourages students to see the world in new and different ways. Angela, Lauren, Carissa, and Chelsea find their subjects in reflections and use photography for expression. I am always impressed with their work.”

The creativity and passion reflected in the students’ work demonstrate a keen eye and natural talent in this field.

This event was successful in part because Pam Warner, owner of Frameworks in Wilmette, contributed her professional expertise.  She did an amazing job framing the students' photography in preparation for the exhibit free of charge.  When Mr. Hoffheimer asked her to donate time and materials, she accepted his request immediately.  Pam Warner told him that she, “Enjoys supporting student artwork and young artists in the community.”

The Avoca School District greatly appreciates the opportunity to partner with our community members for events such as this one. The Marie Murphy students and staff would like to thank Aaron Galleries in the Glen for facilitating this exhibit, and Frameworks in Wilmette for supporting our students.

Mr. Hoffheimer, Angela Lee, Lauren Pingad, Carissa Yang, and Chelsea Ye
